Sochaux right-back prefers Lyon to Arsenal. The agent of Sochaux right-back Sebastien Corchia has said that the player’s move to Lyon has all but been confirmed, according to Sky Sports.
The 22-year-old Frenchman had been one of Arsenal’s options in the transfer market this summer as they prepare for the exit of current first-choice right-back Bacary Sagna.
However, they will now have to pursue other targets, as it appears that Corchia has opted to stay in France for the time being with fellow Ligue 1 side Lyon.
His agent, Francois Gilles, is quoted as saying: “Sebastien has chosen. Lyon is the future, this is what he wants (and) is what he has planned. I can at least confirm that today.”
Corchia is an attack-minded full-back who can also play in midfield, and would have fit in perfectly at the Emirates Stadium in Arsene Wenger’s attacking lineup.
Wenger will now look to the likes of Daryl Janmaat of Feyenoord, or possibly Manchester City’s Micah Richards, as he looks to solve his problem at right-back. Sagna has one year remaining on his current contract and though he has recently hinted he could stay at the club, he has been linked strongly with a move to PSG.
