Everton are ready to re-ignite their interest in FC Twente youngster Leroy Fer according to the Liverpool Echo.
Roberto Martinez may struggle to keep hold of Belgian Marouane Fellaini, with a host of clubs said to be ready to trigger the 25 year old’s £24m release clause, and as such the new Toffees boss is ready to seal a deal to bring in the Dutch international.
Everton were set to sign 23 year old attacking midfielder Fer in January, and had agreed a £8.6m deal for the youngster only for concerns over an ongoing knee injury to derail the deal.
Fer saw out the remainder of the Eredivisie season with FC Twente well enough and is currently away with the Dutch Under 21 international side at the European Under 21 Championships in Israel, scoring in his side’s opening two group matches.
Leroy Fer claims he is still in regular contact with the Goodison Park side and a move to the Merseyside club is seemingly still a very real possibility this summer.
Fer scored five goals and assisted another five for FC Twente last term and it would appear that Everton are not the only side likely to be interested in the in-form rangy midfielder.
