Anfield club ready to make bid for Bosnian forward.
Liverpool are ready to make a move for Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko as they prepare for life without Luis Suarez.
Publically, the Anfield side are stating their determination to hold on to Suarez in the face of interest from Real Madrid, but the club know they can do little to prevent Uruguayan from leaving should he hand in a transfer request.
That has prompted the club to begin with contingency plans and they have begun drawing up a short list of potential replacements Suarez.
Liverpool are at least safe in the knowledge that Suarez is likely to command a hefty transfer fee, providing the club with a great deal of flexibility in who they bring in to replace him.
The club are currently looking into the signing of Dzeko, with Brendan Rodgers having identified the powerful forward as the man who can fire them to glory.
Rodgers believes Dzeko’s strength would be the perfect complement to Daniel Sturridge’s pace and trickery.
Dzeko is known to be available this summer after becoming increasingly frustrated with his lack of first team opportunities at the Etihad Stadium. He has regularly found himself behind the likes of Carlos Tevez and Sergio Aguero in the City pecking order and could well be tempted by the prospect of regular first team football at Anfield.
