Liverpool have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas according to the Daily Mail.

The 25 year old forward scored 23 goals to help his side secure promotion to La Liga and managed a dozen goals, and six assists, in his first season in the Spanish top tier and will hope that his side can beat the drop in the final weekend of the season.

Brendan Rodgers has been keen to strengthen his attack, especially with Luis Suarez set to miss the opening six matches of the campaign, and the capture of Aspas is a cost effective addition that could help beef up his Anfield options.

The Liverpool boss may hope that Aspas makes a similar impact in the Premier League to another former Celta Vigo star, Michu, who managed a very healthy 18 top tier goals in his first season at Swansea City.

Aspas has managed a total of 61 goals in 235 appearances for Celta Vigo and will be leaving the club he has represented since the age of eight as he looks to a high-profile move to Liverpool to aid his push for a first senior national team cap.

There are mixed reports as to the price Liverpool will pay with some sources stating £8.6m whilst the Daily Mail states £7.7m.
