White Hart Lane attention turns to Braga forward.
Tottenham have turned their attention to signing Portuguese forward Eder from Braga in the summer for £8million after calling time on their chase of Brazilian Leandro Damiao.
Manager Andre Villas-Boas’ chase of Leandro failed to materialise into a transfer deal on deadline day with Tottenham unable to strike a deal with Internacional of a £17million swoop – with the player’s unusual ownership scuppering the transfer with a third party having a 30 per cent stake in the 23-year-old.
With Villas-Boas ruling out returning in the summer to continue the negotiations with Leandro, his representatives and Internacional, Tottenham have not put 22-year-old Eder to the top of their shopping list, according to the Sunday People.
Eder, who has been watched by Villas-Boas’ scouts as well as Norwich City this season, has a £26million release clause in his contract with Portuguese Super League side Braga but could go for as little as £8million in the summer. He is also on the radar of Swansea City.
Tottenham currently have no fit strikers with Jermaine Defoe ruled out for up to three weeks and Emmanuel Adebayor on international duty with Togo at the African Nations Cup. Gareth Bale was used in a more central role in Sunday’s 1-0 win over West Brom.
