Midfielder’s Loftus Road move could be off.
Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts
French international midfielder Yann M’Vila’s proposed transfer to Premier League strugglers Queens Park Rangers could be on hold after Rennes received interest from leading Russian clubs Rubin Kazin and Zenit St Petersburg.
M’Vila, who was also a target for Arsenal earlier in the January transfer window, was all set to complete a move to the Premier League and Loftus Road following discussions between QPR boss Harry Redknapp and Ligue 1 club Rennes.
But the 22-year-old is not guaranteed to conclude a deal to join QPR with Rennes now in talks with both Rubin Kazin and Zenit St Peterburg, according to Sky Sports. Reading and Fulham are also thought to be interested in M’Vila, who has been capped 22 times by France at international level.
“We are in negotiations with QPR, but since yesterday (Tuesday), other clubs have made requests,” Rennes president Frederic De Saint-Sernin is quoted as telling France 2. “There are clubs from the former Soviet Union and England too. We will resume discussions tomorrow.”
QPR have already boosted their chances of avoiding relegation from the Premier League with the signing of M’Vila’s international team-mate Loic Remy, the striker having signed earlier this week from Marseille.
