San Siro side want Stamford Bridge star.
AC Milan will make a £18million bid to entice Michael Essien from Chelsea this summer.
Milan will take the Italian title for the first time in seven years if they win at Roma on Saturday but Allegri is already thinking ahead.
He has told Milan directors Adriano Galliani and Ariedo Braida Essien must be the club’s prime summer transfer target.
But Milan will not take no for an answer and may seek to persuade Chelsea to sell by offering players in a potential swap deal.

There are fewer better midfield battlers in Europe than Michael Essien but AC Milan will struggle to convince Chelsea to sell the former Lyon man as he has been a mainstay at Stamford Bridge for six seasons and Carlo Ancelotti will be hard pushed to find an adequate replacement.
AC Milan are closing in on their first Serie A title in six years and boss Massimiliano Allegri has earmarked a move for the Ghana international as he looks to add even more quality to his San Siro squad as they look to make a concerted effort to triumph in the Champions League next term.
Whilst Chelsea have the likes of John Obi Mikel and Ramires who can play in the same position at Essien, neither are as consistent a force as the tough tackling 28 year old. The offering of AC Milan squad players as part of any deal is unlikely to tempt the Blues into a deal either.
