It seems that the Emirates manager has his work cut out curtailing the threat that Barcelona magician Leo Messi may pose for Arsenal in the Champions League Quarter Finals, but no matter as this excellent comic from Studs Up shows, there is more than one way to skin a cat. There is no doubting that the north London side is experiencing something of a purple patch and that they should in no way be overawed by the prospect of going head to head with the current Champions League holders but there must still be a very real fear that unless they contain the impish Argentine they could find themselves in trouble.
Messi has scored an incredible 25 goals in 24 La Liga games and appears as slippery and impossible to handle as ever. It may take a bit of physical contact from the likes of Alex Song and Denilson to put the Barcelona man in his place and whilst the Gunners are not known for their bully boy tactics perhaps now is as good a time as ever to get stuck in. Obviously no one would condone anything bordering on footballing assault, perhaps just a case of going in full bloodied when putting in a good solid challenge.
Arsenal’s style of play is of course very suited to a European battle but maybe on this occasion Arsene Wenger should consider a good bit of English style rough and tumble to overcome the Catalan giants?
