JOE KINNEAR has got the all-clear to return to management.
And he reckons he would have kept Newcastle in the Premier League had he not been taken ill in February and needed triple-bypass heart surgery.
Kinnear, 62, said: “I’m pretty sure that the run I got the team on at the time, it would have seen us through. But it’s a bit late for that now.” (News of the World)
Ok, so let’s take a close look at that ‘run’ the team were on. Would that be the run of one win in the twelve matches before he need to have his surgery? Hardly worth boasting about is it! And that one win, well that was against bottom of the table West Brom. In comparison Alan Shearer managed one win in his eight match spell, so arguably he simply improved on the Kinnear run!
Oh, and in case anyone is interested, the 62 year old Irishman is looking for another managerial position!
