Up to now, Luiz Felipe Scolari has seemed like a placid character, stood with his hands in his pockets and watching his team turn in some great performances which has seen them hit the top of the Premier League. However, the Brazilian was riled by the press on Tuesday, when they quizzed him about the future of a certain forward.
It appears as though Didier Drogba is once again flirting with other football clubs, with the Ivorian apparently meeting Inter’s technical director for a coffee and a chat recently. The Guardian reports that the Chelsea manager lost his cool when these allegations were put to him in a press conference.
The Chelsea manager said he had no idea where Drogba had been but added, with no little sarcasm, that he was “not the policeman for my players” and nor did he “sleep with Drogba”.
“I think what I say one month ago,” he said. “It’s December, then it’s Christmas and Christmas is for agents. They open their mouths for the world … I want this, the team wants that. Now is the month. Now maybe 15 players from Chelsea [go] outside and 15 come. If you ask me if I say any name, I say no.”
Do Chelsea still need Didier Drogba if they are to challenge for the Premier League and Champions League this season, or has Nicolas Anelka demonstrated that he is more than able to lead the line? This is not the first time that the Ivorian has courted controversy during his time at Stamford Bridge, and many supporters would be relieved to see him leave, simply because they are sick of rumours linking him with a move away.
