The Blues are in Rome this evening for their fourth group match in the Champions League, with the team currently favourites to win the competition. Chelsea will hope to return to the Stadio Olimpico in May for the final; it certainly appears that they’re confident of making appearance if this source is to be believed.
The Sun get all excited at the ‘news’ that the Premier League leaders have already booked themselves into a hotel ahead of the grand finale next year, although in reality Phil Scolari has merely said that he likes where the team have been staying this week, and that he would like to be coming here again for the final.
The final is back here next May and boss Big Phil said: “I like this hotel, it’s beautiful.
“If the hotel accepts we’ll book it for next year. I will be very happy to come back here in May.
“It’s a fantastic hotel. We went for a walk today and it’s in a beautiful area with a great view.”
Scolari added: “We need to arrive in the final. We are playing very well but we need to get into more finals and win them.”
One imagine that many clubs make provisional hotel bookings ahead of the final, just to ensure that they have the best place to prepare if they do indeed make it through the group and knockout stages. Will Chelsea be returning to Rome later this season to win Europe’s blue riband competition?
