The Blues are now top of the Premier League on goal difference after their 5-0 drubbing of Sunderland. It was a veritable walk in the park for Phil Scolari’s men, who were 3-0 up by half-time and look every inch like they’re the team to beat this season, despite slipping up against Liverpool last week. A certain player grabbed his eighth goal of the season on Saturday, and has been hailed as the world’s best by his manager.
Indeed, it appeared as though Frank Lampard might have joined Inter last summer, with the England midfielder stalling over signing a new contract for several weeks. However, much to the delight of supporters, he decided to stick around, and Setanta reports that he’s now receiving some very high praise for his performances.
The former Brazil and Portugal boss believes Lampard now stands above all others on current form.
“Lampard can score 150 goals in his career,” he said.
“One goal every two or three games is fantastic for a midfielder.
“I think this season we need to think who is the best in the world. It is Frank Lampard.”
Chelsea supporters would no doubt echo their manager’s words, with the midfielder consistently brilliant in a blue shirt this campaign. In addition to scoring lots of goals, Lamps provides plenty of assists for the team and will surely be challenging the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo for next year’s World Player of the Year awards if he continues like this. Is everyone in agreement that he’s the best midfielder in the Premier League and the world?
