With the money flying around in the Premier League at the moment (not literally), it’s always a bit dangerous to start questioning whether a club can afford to buy one of your players, especially as there are one or two outfits with a seemingly bottomless pot of cash. Ever since Paul Ince became manager, he’s been trying to fend off suitors off a certain Blackburn striker, and he’s already starting to assemble the proverbial fortress ahead of the January transfer window opening.
Sky Sports reports that the Rovers gaffer has issued a ‘hands-off’ warning to Aston Villa, after it has been reported that the Midlands club want to bag the Paraguayan in January. The striker has also been linked with a move to Manchester City, and money would certainly not be an object in the case of the latter, who are prepared to get their men, whatever the cost.
“Villa can’t afford him,” Ince told The Sun.
“When it gets near to the transfer window, people start coming out with all these things.
“Roque signed a four-year deal, he came out and said he loves it at Blackburn. He wants to stay here and we want him to stay here.
“Until that changes, that’s the only situation that matters.”
Paul Ince must be sick and tired of having to respond to these rumours linking RSC away from Ewood Park, yet the simple fact is that most players love playing European football, something currently on offer at the likes of Aston Villa and Manchester City. Are Blackburn supporters confident that the striker will still be with you in February, or are you fearing the worst?
