While Magpies fans won’t believe it until they see it, there could at last be reasons for cheer at St James’ Park after the last few weeks of misery (or should that be years?). Yes, Joe Kinnear might have been a disappointing instalment as interim manager of Newcastle, although the ex-Luton boss has hinted that his potential replacements will be music to the ears of Geordies.
Setanta report that the interim United manager is all-too aware that he’s only in for the short haul, and that it’s highly possible that the messiah could be returning for a third time as manager, along with another Tyneside legend.
“I am aware that the new owners have Kevin Keegan and possibly Alan Shearer parked around the corner,” said Kinnear.
“I understand investors are about to buy the club, Mike Ashley told me openly. I will be here for 6-8 games.”
Newcastle fans, are you mightily encouraged by the above, or are you refusing to hold your breath regarding this potential dream team appointment? After all, Alan Shearer has refused to discuss the manager’s position at St James’ on several occasions, while Kevin Keegan might have had enough of the whole coaching malarkey. Therefore, even if the new owners do want the pair at the helm, it remains open to debate as to whether either can be attracted back to Tyneside.
