Another game ,another defensive shambles for Everton who got dumped out of the Carling Cup by Blackburn last night. So woeful were the Toffees that the travelling support even booed them….
Moyes’ men have been anemic all season and yesterday’s game was no different, succumbing to a solitary Blackburn goal after the customary defensive lapse. After the game Moyes admitted that his team deserved to be booed:
“They had the right to react because we did not play well enough.
“Give Blackburn credit because they did — and, in Tugay, they had the best player on the pitch, especially in the first half.
“That is why I changed our midfield at half-time because he had so much control.”
With the Merseyside derby looming at the weekend, Moyes must be pulling his hair out at the sudden transformation of his solid defense into shambolic goons. Worse still, Everton’s atrophied back four seem to be spreading their poor form to the rest of the team as the midfield and strikeforce weren’t much better with record signing Fellaini and United recruit Saha looking very stodgy.
