At last! The Toffees have finally signed a player and, like a greedy girlfriend with her rich boyfriend’s credit card, now they’ve made that first purchase, they’ve got a taste for more. It’s abundantly clear that Everton need reinforcements, especially when you look at the youngsters that David Moyes is having to stick on the bench, although it appears as though the cavalry are on their way.
The Liverpool Daily Post report that the Blues have signed Lars Jacobsen, a Danish right-back formerly of Nuremburg, who is delighted to have arrived at the Merseyside club, turning down several offers from elsewhere.
“I met David Moyes and the players. Everton are a big club and it’s a fantastic opportunity for me which I couldn’t say no to.
“I’m satisfied with the one-year deal and we have the possibility to look at another one.
“It was the Premier League where I wanted to be. Everton know what they are getting they have seen me in a lot of matches it’s up to me now.”
The same article then goes on to list several other players that Everton are desperately seeking, how many of these bad boys will they get?
Everton remain interested in Rennes midfielder Stephane M’bia and have not given up hope of signing Sporting Lisbon playmaker Jose Moutinho.
Valencia’s giant striker Nikola Zigic could arrive on loan, but reports from Spain have suggested Everton will face competition from Aston Villa and Sunderland as well as Stoke City.
And efforts to sign Albert Riera are likely to flounder with the Espanyol left winger determined to complete a move to neighbours Liverpool.
Toffees fans will hope that Jacobsen is the start of things to come, although time is fast running out for Moyes to land quality additions to the squad. Will the next few days see a flurry of activity?
