After all, a football club would be pretty pretty pretty foolish to let their best player leave for a few million, when he has the potential to make a difference over whether they stay up or not. This is not the first story linking this Fulham playmaker with a potential move back north, but surely he’s settled in the capital these days?
After all, one of Jimmy Bullard’s reasons for leaving Wigan in the first place was because he wanted to move down south where he has a bunch of family. So why exactly would he want to sign for Bolton, who I’m sure are a lovely club but they are located only a stone’s throw away from the JJB Stadium. The Press Association reports that the Trotters are keen.
“We’ve been linked with quite a few but we have shown an interest (in Bullard), indeed in quite a few other players,” he said.
Following a season and a half out of action with an horrific injury suffered against Wanderers’ weekend opponents Newcastle in September 2006, Bullard proved he was back to his all-action best as he played a key role in the London club’s ultimately successful bid for top-flight survival last term.
Megson added: “Whether he’s actually for sale I’m not so sure, so that’s not the only iron we’ve got in the fire.”
Surely, Roy Hodgson would be barmy to let a player of this calibre go? This could be a fantastic season for Bullard, with his injury firmly behind him and the chance to illustrate what he’s all about in the white shirt of Fulham, not Bolton.
