Hull close to landing £3 million Wigan striker – can he fire them to safety?

Will Hull City stay in the Premier League next season? While most of you are saying yes thrice over, let’s give the third promoted side from the Championship half a chance shall we? After all, they have recruited wisely by bringing in Craig Fagan and George Boateng, while it now appears as though they’re close to landing a sometime-prolific striker from Wigan.

Marlon King is a player well known to Watford fans, who claim that their relegation from the top flight was all but confirmed two seasons ago when the forward got crocked for several months. Tigers supporters will be hoping that King can rediscover the form that helped elevate the Hornets into the big time, as they’re close to signing him according to the Hull Daily Mail.

Tigers’ chairman Paul Duffen said: “We’ve agreed terms with Wigan and will be talking with the player over the next 48 hours.”

It’s abundantly clear that King is surplus to requirements at the JJB, with Derby already sniffing around him but finding his wages a bit hot to handle. Hull appear to have no such problems and will hope that they can persuade King to spearhead their Premier League challenge. Will he fancy another season of scrapping for survival?
