Sunderland boss Roy Keane looks set to sign at least three of the original four his club bid for as some Tottenham cast off’s look to a bright new challenge in the north-east.
Steed Malbranque, Teemu Tainio and Younes Kaboul have joined Pascal Chimbonda in holding talks with Sunderland.
The Black Cats tabled bids for the Tottenham players earlier in the week and Chimbonda arrived at the Stadium of Light on Saturday morning for talks over a potential transfer.
The French defender’s three Spurs team-mates have now all made the same journey to meet with Sunderland boss Roy Keane.
Agent Rudy Raba had stated that Kaboul was not interested in a switch to Sunderland, with Portsmouth leading the chase for the 22-year-old.
However, he has decided to listen to Sunderland’s offer before reassessing his options.
Malbranque and Tainio have also discussed personal terms with the club and it would appear they have no future at Tottenham. (Sky Sports)
Given Kaboul’s comments following the original bid from Roy Keane I would imagine the Black Cats may not be quite so keen on the French defender, but the other trio all look keen on the move up north where they will all be looking to resurrect their first team careers. Younes looks far happier with a potential move to Portsmouth but they seem unwilling to meet the 7m valuation so not sure where that will leave the centre back. Do Spurs fans think they should have held onto Steed or would he have only been a squad player and therefore not worth holding back?
