Real Madrid players concerned over Manchester United winger’s wages – poor lambs!

As if there weren’t enough obstacles in the way of Cristiano Ronaldo joining Real Madrid already, one of his potential team-mates at the Bernabeu has expressed his concern over the Portuguese forward’s astronomical wage demands. It has been reported that the Man United number seven would require something in the region of £200k a week if he’s going to be wearing a white shirt next season – seems reasonable to me.

However, the Daily Mail report that there could be uproar in the camp of the Spanish champions if the club make Ronaldo their highest-paid player. Wesley Sneijder, a Dutchman who stereotypically speaks his mind on such matters, has explained that some of the spoilt brats other squad members might question why a team-mate is earning considerably more than them.

‘It would be bad for the dressing room if he gets a much higher salary than the rest of the squad.

‘It’s not important to me, but I know other team-mates wouldn’t like that at all. Here we have footballers like him, for example Arjen Robben or Robinho.

‘It’s obvious that I want to play with Cristiano but you also have to maintain the equilibrium in the dressing room.

‘At the moment, no one can say anything about him because talking well about him also shows a slight lack of respect to the players that are here and this Real Madrid side has a lot of people of quality.’

After such a lengthy pursuit of Ronaldo, we’re sure that appeasing his future team-mates is the least of Real Madrid’s worries. Players such as Robinho and Robben may even become surplus to requirements if they land a player capable of winning games singlehandedly. There are rumours that the Brazilian is shooting off to Chelsea, something which may become a reality if the Spanish club acquire their number one target.
