The Daily Mail is reporting that Spurs have beaten Benfica to the signature of Espanyol striker Luis Garcia. Admittedly, taking what the Daily Mail spews out as gospel truth will get you about as far as believing Jeffrey Archer, but this rumour looks fairly solid…
Juande Ramos has bagged himself a Spanish striker, and no it’s not David Villa. He’s managed to nab Espanyol’s useful 27-year-old Luis Garcia. Spurs made their first move for Garcia at the start of the month and, after lengthy discussions, the 27-year-old is set to complete his £9.5million move next week.
Espanyol claimed today Spurs are still among ‘a group of clubs who are ready to make a concrete bid’, with Portuguese side Benfica thinking they were favourites to sign the Spain international.
But Spurs appear to have stolen a march on their rivals after a meeting with Garcia’s
agents and Espanyol’s lawyer, Vicente Montes, last night. (Daily Mail)
Garcia looks to be a versatile attacker, but does this now pave the way for Robbie Keane to hotfoot it to Anfield?
