Paul Ince has clearly been out in the sun too long if he reckons Robbie Fowler still has what it takes to compete in the Premier League.
In an exclusive, The Daily Mirror announced the shock news that Ince is on the brink of bringing Fowler to Blackburn.
Ince, the self-styled “guv’nor”, who has just taken over the hot seat at Blackburn Rovers, knows all about Robbie’s striking prowess from their Liverpool days at Anfield. But maybe he hasn’t heard about Robbie’s dodgy knees and hip.
Amazingly, Ince believes Fowler still has what it takes to swap the Championship and Cardiff City for the Premier League – if he can prove his fitness. And that’s a BIG if.
Fowler, arguably one of the greatest finishers of his generation, bagged 6 goals last season for Cardiff before injury ruled him out of action for six months, missing the chance to play in the FA Cup.
After a reportedly successful op in the States, Fowler’s back in training and raring to go, or so it seems.
Fowler, technically a free agent, had been expected to sign a pay-as-you-play deal with Cardiff. But if Ince’s offer is genuine, the former Liverpool striker would be stupid to turn down a chance to play in the top flight for one more season.
Trouble is, the Blackburn fans probably won’t be impressed by their new gaffer’s signing!
