All good things must come to an end, and that includes Frank Lampard’s career at Stamford Bridge. The Chelsea midfielder has had several excellent seasons at Chelsea, helping them to win a stack of silverware, which sadly didn’t include the Champions League (boo hoo hoo).
Setanta report that Jose Mourinho is convinced that the England international will be joining him at the San Siro, although it appears that the former Blues manager will have to wait twelve months for his man. Apparently, the player is destined to stick around for one final season, fighting the likes of Deco and Ballack for a place in the starting line-up.
”This season? I don’t think so,” Mourinho is quoted in The Sun about Lampard.
”Why won’t he? Well it’s not because we don’t want him, but I’m sure Chelsea and Chelsea officials don’t want to sell him.
”However, for next season it will be easier for him to join me at Inter.
”I’m 100 percent sure in 2009/2010 he will be playing here.”
So it’s looking like one final hurrah for Lamps, who has been one of the most consistent performers in the Premier League for several seasons. In fantasy football terms, he’s always been a great pick, scoring lots of goals and assisting many more. Surely Chelsea fans will miss him when he’s gone?
