You have to give the silly season credit; just when you think things can’t get any more confusing, the Daily Mirror and other various sources pop up with new rumours that make you shake your head and wonder what’s really going on.
The Mirror has come up with another audacious rumour, and this one involves everyone’s favourite link between Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard and the non-Special One’s new club Inter Milan.
Lampard has agreed in principle to a four-year deal [with Inter Milan] worth £6m a year, with Chelsea receiving a £7m transfer fee. (Daily Mirror)
However, there’s one problem with the rumour: Chelsea brass have reported that they haven’t even talked to Inter Milan, let alone a verbal statement from Lampard that he’s ready to leave the club. To say that there could be a huge piece of information missing would be an understatement.
That being said, the hot and heavy link between the English midfielder and the Italian club has to raise a massive question: Is the London club prepared to lose their talismanic midfielder this summer?
Lampard made it clear that he was more than willing to talk about a new deal; however, from the look of things, one would wonder if Chelsea feel the same way.
Are Chelsea supporters nervous about losing Lampard this summer to Inter Milan? Will the club up the ante and boost Lampard’s wages? Or is this just more paper talk?
