Spurs are clearly keen as mustard when it comes to David Bentley, and have offered Blackburn the chance to not only receive a tidy sum of cash for the ex-Arsenal winger, but also have Aaron Lennon as part of the deal.
The Guardian report that Tottenham have offered £7million plus the tiny wide-man in exchange for Bentley’s services, although Rovers will clearly take some budging when it comes to letting their man go. Paul Ince has declared that none of his players for sale, despite the England international stating his desire to leave Lancashire a few weeks ago.
Would this represent good business for Spurs or Blackburn if the above deal were to go through? Two seasons ago, you might have argued that Lennon was the better player, shining in his World Cup cameo roles for England. However, his career has gone slightly off the rails since then, while Bentley’s performances last season has forced him into Fabio Capello’s plans.
