Goodness me, that Paul Ince is an ambitious fellow. He helps Macclesfield escape relegation and then engineers promotion from League Two for MK Dons. Suddenly, that makes him the best thing since sliced bread according to his biggest fan – himself!
The Sun report that the new Blackburn manager might be letting things get to his head a little. He was something of a surprise choice to replace Mark Hughes at Ewood Park, although that hasn’t stopped him telling the press of his future ambitions, which include a return to Italy and potentially managing England. Steady on there old chap!
“I had a text off Sir Alex to say ‘Well done, congratulations’. But I’m under no illusions — I’m the enemy now.
“When we play United everything we went through together will go right out of the window.”
The former West Ham midfield man added: “Once I’ve finished in the Premier League, I’ve always said I’d like to go back to Inter.
“I really enjoyed my time at the San Siro and it’s an ambition. But if England was to come along then . . . I captained my country so why not?”
One step at a time methinks. Although we wish Ince all the best at Blackburn, it’s perfectly feasible that he’ll be on the managerial scrapheap in a few months time, especially if he gets off to a poor start. Time waits for no man, and Premier League chairman don’t either. Can he cut the mustard at the top level or will ‘The Guvnor’ find things too hot to handle?
