The fans may not like the sound of it, but the Daily Telegraph are reporting that Merseyside neighbours Liverpool and Everton might be sharing a football ground in the not-so-distant future. Both clubs appear to be experiencing problems with potential new stadium developments and the leader of Liverpool’s city council is convinced that the dream can still happen.
Warren Bradley said: “I’ve been working behind the scenes on a joint Liverpool and Everton stadium.
“I have talked to the sports minister and to the Northwest Regional Development Agency and I’ve spoken to Everton chairman Bill Kenwright.”
Liverpool are scraping the coffers to stump up with the required £300million needed for their new ground, set to built in Stanley Park. In addition, the council themselves could bring Everton’s new stadium plans to a halt, by objecting to the Kirby development on planning grounds.
Are there any Liverpool or Everton fans in favour of sharing a football ground, much in the same way that Milan and Inter do?
