Oh you have to love Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent – especially if you’re Sir Alex Ferguson, and you wake up to see the one thing you absolutely didn’t want to see on the morning of the Champions League final: Cristiano Ronaldo smiling on the front page of Spanish sport daily, Marca, under the headline, “Cristiano says ‘I do’.”
After week’s of speculation over what was going on behind the scenes between Real Madrid and Ronaldo, the Telegraph is reporting today that Cristiano Ronaldo’s meddling agent is trying to once again make the Champions League final all about his current star by holding talks in Moscow with the Madrid giants about a possible transfer.
“Manchester United were hit by a potential bombshell ahead of the Champions League final after it was reported that Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent has already held talks with Real Madrid about a possible transfer.” (Telegraph)
“Spanish sports daily Marca reported today that Ronaldo is keen on a move to Spain and that his agent, Jorge Mendes, has discussed the matter in Moscow with Real Madrid director Pedrag Mijatovic.” (Telegraph)
Apparently, Ronaldo’s contract (which runs until 2012) is still not enough to make Real president Ramon Calderon give up his dream of having the Portuguese star in his starting eleven next season.
So what’s your take on this whole ménage à trois? Is it just a load of rubbish to get United off their game, or is it really possible that Madrid could break the bank with a record transfer for the one man they can’t live without?
