Every news outlet with a pulse, and some without, is reporting that Everton have signed up young defensive starlet Jack Rodwell on a long contract. Well, when we say long we really mean 2 years because that’s the maximum allowed for the young scamp. 2 years is a long time and no doubt in that period Chelsea will again try and nab the young defender, the Stamford Bridge club have already made one attempt to bag Rodwell – who has all the signs of being a glorious talent for the future – by offering to relocate him and his family to London, even buying them a house. Rodwell has shown loyalty in staying with the Toffees, the Rodster (as his mates call him) told Sky Sports:
“I’m really pleased to get it signed, I have just been waiting for my 17th birthday.
“It was a really good week, making my debut, then signing the contract – and there was my birthday as well!
“It’s been good being around the first-team recently, they are all top quality players and it’s great to be involved.
“I just want to stay around (the first-team) as much as I can and play if I am needed.
“Then hopefully I’ll have a good pre-season and go from there next season.”
Rodwell, one for the future, and a possible England star in the making!
