Aston Villa youngster Gabriel Agbonlahor is one of the most promising and rising strikers that England national team coach Fabio Capello has at his disposal at the moment and the Villa striker knows that already. The youngster is playing superbly in the English Premier League this season and after missing this month’s friendly international against Switzerland at Wembley, he is determined to feature in England colours against France next month.
Agbonlahor says:
I couldn’t believe it why it had to happen that week of all weeks. Going up to the Fulham game I thought to myself, ‘don’t get injured’ because going to meet up with the England squad was going to be the best moment of my life. Then it happened. At least it wasn’t a long-term injury so hopefully I can get that chance again. The other lads from Villa [Scott Carson, Gareth Barry and Ashley Young] met up straight after the game. I was very down. I watched the game on TV. I saw the players coming on as subs and couldn’t help thinking that if I had been there I might have had a chance. But I feel now that if he was going to put me in that squad, I can hopefully get a chance in the next one.
Sure you can, Gabby. See you in France donning England colours next month.
