Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov has increased his stake in Arsenal by 1% to take his tally to 24%. His investment company Red and White Holdings bought bought shares, roughly half a per cent, from one shareholder in a single trade and this move has multiplied the speculation that the Russian billionaire is trying to buy the entire club.
At the moment, the Arsenal board own 50% of the shares at Arsenal and in October last year, they decided to bar Usmanov from increasing his shares at the club since they see him essentially as a threat.
Although Usmanov’s representatives have denied that the billionaire is looking for a complete takeover of the club, football experts believe that Alisher Usmanov is actually inching closer to making a bid for the north London club.
