Micah Richard’s today revealed to the Sun that beating Man Utd last Sunday was the greatest moment of his career so far (you can tell he hasn’t had much of a career yet), and then dismissed United’s claims that fatigue caused them to lose. Richards said:
“It was an amazing day. City had not won there for 34 years, so to be part of a team to manage it is phenomenal.
“The City players were really up for the game. We wanted to show it was not only United who were turning up and that we had quality as well.
“The last thing Sven Goran Eriksson said before we went out at Old Trafford was ‘Don’t be afraid’.
“It was the best moment of my club career. I heard United blamed it on fatigue but I do not think that is a valid excuse.
“Many players at City were away playing abroad too.”
So were United’s excuses as lame as their on-field performances?
