Goal.com reports that Liverpool’s American co-owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks are ready to walk out of Anfield and hand the keys to the Dubai based consortium DIC(Dubai Investment Capital). It is reported that the handover could be finalised as early as mid-March this year.
Of course, much of the material of this news is loosely based on some eclipsed inside source but it is true that Hicks has been contemplating on selling his share at the club since the row between him and Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez broke out.
Liverpool fans have decided to back Rafa and some loftily ambitious supporters have even launched their own bid to takeover the club. Liverpool are in a mess, both on the pitch and off it, and the rumour surrounding another takeover in just over a year wouldn’t help the Reds at all.
