England coach happy with result, performance and fans

England beat Switzerland 2-1 in Wednesday’s international friendly in what was Fabio Capello’s first match in charge of the national side. Sky Sports reports that the Italian hardliner is happy with the players, their performance and the electric atmosphere generated by the Wembley crowd.

Capello has this to say about the England fans who came to watch the match:

First of all it is very good to be here in this impressive stadium with this very good crowd, it was a very good emotion for me and I am very happy now I know what it is to be England manager. Wembley generates a lot of pressure and we started nervously, but after a while we felt this pressure go and in places we played good football

What about the performance?

We played some good football in places and created a lot of goalscoring chances which unfortunately we didn’t take and defensively we have played solidly. The last ten minutes again we didn’t play football as we were concerned about the result.

So Don Capello is happy with the start? Hope that the smiles stay for a long time.
