Football365 reports that Roma are ready to leap ahead of hapless Middlesbrough a whisk Heerenveen striker Afonso Alves from under ‘Boro’s noses. According to reports, Middlesbrough have agreed personal terms with the Brazilian striker but haven’t yet sorted out the small matter of agreeing a fee with Heerenveen(!) Add to this the rancid layer cake of red tape surrounding Alves’ work permit application and the scene is set for a last minute hijack bid by Roma.
Football365 claims that:
“Roma could be ready to throw a spanner in the works of Boro’s potential record deal.
“It now remains to be seen whether Boro can get the deal, which has dragged on for a number of days, done or whether Alves may remain in Holland or head elsewhere.
“Boro fans are desperate to see a big-name capture this month, as the only deal done so far in January has seen Jonathan Woodgate move to Tottenham.”
Can ‘Boro fans really face the heartbreak of missing out on Alves?
