Iceland’s most famous son Eidur Gudjohnsen (sorry, Magnus Magnusson) has hinted that he is about ready to up sticks and leave Catalonia for the Premiership. The former Chelsea star has had enough of being slapped in the streets and told he’s not as good as Samuel Eto’o,
He told the BBC: “If I leave then my idea would be to return to British football.
“A perfect choice for me will be a club that plays in the Champions League. Obviously Manchester United is a club that fits into that category.”
He added: “I joined Barcelona to be part of the club’s triumphs but it is not easy for me when you look at the club’s forward line and see all the big names there.
“Each minute has been a special test for me but to sit on the bench is not the most desirable experience for a player.
“I still don’t think I have failed in Spain, but perhaps I have not totally won the confidence of the coach.”
Gudjohnsen either rates himself very highly or somehow is unaware that it is very possible that he would find himself warming a whole host of new subs seats at Old Trafford when he comes up against Wayne Rooney, Louis Saha, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and possibly Giuseppe Rossi and Nani for a single striker position as Ferguson gives 4-5-1 another go.
