There could reportedly be some worrying news for Liverpool fans as Bayer Leverkusen boss Xabi Alonso is being eyed as a potential candidate to replace the struggling Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich.
Fabrizio Romano has previously spoken of Liverpool’s interest in Alonso, whilst also mentioning Bayern as long-term admirers of the Spanish tactician, who is doing superb work at Leverkusen this season.
Now it seems there could be a growing threat from Bayern amid their current struggles, with the idea being to move for Alonso to replace Tuchel at the end of the season, according to The Athletic.
Alonso looks like the dream candidate to replace Jurgen Klopp, who recently announced he’d be stepping down as Liverpool manager at the end of the season, so these developments at Bayern seem far from ideal for the Reds.
It won’t be easy for Liverpool to replace a legendary figure like Klopp, but Alonso, being a former LFC player and one of the brightest coaching prospects in the game, immediately looked like the perfect fit once Klopp made his announcement.
Bayern would be another tempting job for Alonso, however, so it will be interesting to see what he decides in the weeks and months ahead.
