West Bromwich Albion striker Shane Long has admitted that he is worried for his future with the club as his current deal has yet to be renewed, Sky Sports reports.

The Republic of Ireland international has just nine months left to run on his current deal plus a one-year option in the club’s favour, but negotiations over an extending his stay have stalled.

The 25-year-old has seen little action this season due to injury and a general lack of first team opportunities and has stated that he is beginning to worry about what that means for his future at the club.

“I don’t want to go anywhere but time is running out on my contract and if an opportunity comes along that is right for me and my family, I will have to take a look at it,” he said.

“But as it stands I’m happy where I am, as a family we’re happy where we are and I am enjoying life. I like playing for the manager (Steve Clarke) and I am just concentrating on my football and hoping the rest takes care of itself.”

Long came close to joining Hull on transfer deadline day, only for the deal to collapse at the 11th hour, but Long has insisted that he has no regrets over not being able to secure a switch to the KC Stadium.

“I am not disappointed that I didn’t go. I’m happy here, the lads are great and I’m enjoying playing football here,” he added.

“But at the same time what Hull were offering was promising and they’re a team on the up. Either way I was coming out a winner.”
