Man United legend to cut ties with club after Jose Mourinho hiring

After 29 years as a player and a coach, Man United legend Ryan Giggs is ready to leave the club and set off on his own.

According to the Mirror, Giggs has returned to England from his recent holiday to Dubai but is ready to leave the club rather than accept a reduced role under newly-hired manager Jose Mourinho – with Rui Faria replacing Giggs as the club’s assistant manager. Per the source, Giggs would have been relegated to managing the Academy

Giggs served as the top assistant under former manager Louis van Gaal, but was allegedly facing a demotion under Mourinho. He served as a player-coach under Van Gaal’s predecessor David Moyes and briefly served as interim manager when Moyes was sacked late in 2014.

Man United’s decision to snub Giggs was the second time he was passed over for the role, having been deemed not ready for the role in 2014 and skipped over once Mourinho became available.

Other teams across Great Britain have expressed interest in hiring Giggs as a manager.
