Chelsea star Nemanja Matic has taken a swipe at Arsenal in the aftermath of their win over the Gunners, reports the Daily Star.
The Serbia international believes that the Blues were able to beat their rivals as they wanted the victory more. The Stamford Bridge outfit beat the North Londoners 2-0 thanks to goals from Kurt Zouma and Eden Hazard.
“We wanted to win more than them,” Matic said, “It was a very important three points for us, especially against them.
“We didn’t start the season very well so it was very important to win these two games – Champions League against Maccabi Tel Aviv and the derby against Arsenal. We didn’t concede one goal and we scored six. We have to continue to play like this, especially the next game – it’s going to be very important for us.”
The win was especially important for the Blues, with them having only a solitary victory to their name beforehand. These three points take them to 13th in the Premier League, but perhaps more importantly to only eight points behind leaders Manchester City. The Citizens lost 1-2 to West Ham on Saturday.
