£20m Liverpool FLOP in talks over season-long loan move to Fenerbahce

Liverpool winger Lazar Markovic is poised to leave the club during the current transfer window, following reports that Turkish giants Fenerbahce are interested in signing him on a season-long loan deal.

After completing deals for former Manchester United pair Robin van Persie and Nani earlier in the summer, the Super Lig outfit are set to raid the Premier League once again and have opened talks with the Merseyside outfit over the Serbian youngster according to Sky Sports, who broke the news via their official Twitter account on Thursday night.

The 21-year-old signed for the Reds from Benfica last summer in a deal worth a reported £20million fee [via BBC Sport], but struggled to live up to the hefty price-tag during his debut season in England and has been left out of all three match-day squads at the start of the new campaign.

Following the arrivals of Roberto Firmino, Christian Benteke and Danny Ings during the transfer window, Markovic appears to have no future at the club this season and he could find first-team opportunities easier to come by in Turkey.
