Liverpool consider move for Fiorentina striker to replace £32.5m flop

Despite having a rather solid group of strikers at Anfield, the outlier for Liverpool since Jurgen Klopp took over has been Christian Benteke. The Belgian striker has looked nothing like the superstar he was for Aston Villa last season and there are many indications that Klopp will replace him permanently this summer. One of the latest candidates to replace Benteke is Fiorentina ace Khouma Babacar, who could be made available for a very affordable price.

According to CalcioMercato [per Liverpool-Kop], Klopp has identified Babacar as a potential – and affordable – replacement for Benteke.

The Fiorentina striker is valued at just €13 million and has been very solid in Serie A over the last few seasons, scoring 20 goals in 79 games for the club. He has five goals in 18 appearances this season

Though not the most prolific striker in football, Babacar has shown solid a degree of versatility as a winger – something Benteke sorely lacks. However, he would hardly replace the void in the goal tally that Benteke has failed to fill

Benteke has one goal and one assist in 16 appearances for Liverpool since the start of 2016, making just five starts in the process.
