Arsenal goalkeeper targeted for loan move to Turkey, permanent deal an option

Arsenal currently have the number three scoring in the Premier League thanks in large part to the incredible skill of goalkeeper Petr Cech. Meanwhile, his backup, David Ospina, has been so out of form that the Gunners have seldom been willing to even give him reps in the Champions League. As a result, he could very well be on his way out of Emirates Stadium in the coming months.

According to the Mirror, Turkish Super Lig giants Besiktas have reignited their interest in Ospina after being snubbed in the summer transfer window. The source reported that Besiktas president Fikret Orman hopes to get a loan deal done with the option to become a permanent deal later.

The obstacle to an Ospina move would be the current lack of depth on the Gunners roster. Arsenal are already somewhat short on available goalkeepers due to Wojciech Szczesny’s loan spell at AS Roma.

Ospina was Arsenal’s starting stopper in their first two Champions League fixtures, but gave up a total of five goals in losses to Dinamo Zagreb and Olympiacos. His only winning performance for the Gunners since the start of the 2015-16 season came in a 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Capital One Cup.
