Juventus front man Carlos Tevez has urged Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic to come and join him in Turin next season, according to reports in the Metro.

The two players were team-mates together at Old Trafford for two years between 2007 and 2009, during which time they won a whole host of trophies, including two Premier League titles, the League Cup, the Uefa Champions League and the Fifa World Club Cup.

And with the Red Devils skipper’s contract at the ‘Theatre of Dreams’ due to expire on June 30 2014, his former club-mate has urged Vidic to sign for the Serie A champions next summer.

It is understood that the Premier League giants have offered the highly rated centre back a two-year contract extension to take him beyond the end of his current deal in June on improved terms, however, as yet Vidic has still to put pen to paper and sign the contract.

And that has given the likes of the ‘Old Lady of Italian Football’, as well as fellow Serie A giants such as AS Roma and AC Milan, renewed hope that they may be able to land the experienced Serbia international on a free transfer for next season, with Tevez hoping the 31-year-old chooses Juve.

“Vidic should join Juventus – he’s very suitable for the Italian league,” said the former Argentina international.

“He’s very strong and a very good defender. I played with him at United and then against him when I moved to Manchester City.”
