Barcelona welcome back wideman as they seek to end slump vs. Valencia

Barcelona confirmed on Twitter that Aleix Vidal has returned to training on Thursday, ahead of the Catalan giants’ weekend bout against Valencia.

The reigning European giants are going through a testing time, having won just one of their last five matches.

Barca have taken just one point from their last three matches in the Spanish top flight, and their hefty lead at the top of the Spanish table has been whittled away to just three points. Atletico Madrid are in second and breathing down the Catalan giants’ neck, while Real Madrid sit in third, only four behind Luis Enrique’s side.

Barcelona have also been dumped out of the Champions League, having fallen to a 2-0 second leg defeat to Atleti having won the first leg 2-1 at the Nou Camp.

The domestic giants are in need of a lift, although it remains to be seen whether Vidal—who features at right bank and in wide areas in midfield—can be the man to provide it.

Vidal has made nine league outings since making his debut for Barca in January, contributing one assists in La Liga, and another in the 7-0 cup victory against Sunday’s opponents Valencia.

The wideman hasn’t featured since March third.
