The Welsh international has started each of the Gunners’ last seven matches in all competitions but has been used as a right-winger due to Wenger refusing to tinker with his current central midfield pairing of Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin.

Ramsey struggled with injuries at the start of the season, but has proven to be somewhat of a success whilst playing on the right hand side. He has taken his tally to 10 goals during this spell and was superb in Arsenal’s 3-1 victory against Hull City a week ago, when he scored one and created another for Alexis Sanchez.

However, speaking after the 1-0 defeat to Swansea City on Monday night, the 24-year-old admits he would welcome reverting back to his favoured role in the middle of the park:

“I am a central midfielder and that’s where I like to be. I like to be involved a lot more in the game.” he admitted

“When we are defending, I have to stay in position but when we get the ball I can drift. I am not a winger, I can’t knock the ball beyond my man like Theo Walcott does.” Ramsey added.
