Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly prepared to bring in Nemanja Matic as part of a back three and seemingly drop Eric Bailly for the Tottenham game tonight.
The Red Devils lost 3-2 to Brighton in their last game as they looked hugely unconvincing at the back, with Mourinho now ready to try something new tactically.

According to the Manchester Evening News, this could involve putting midfielder Matic in a back three alongside Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling in what looks a bit of a risky move.
It could also be interpreted as something of a dig aimed the way of United executive vice-chairman, following claims from the Guardian and others a few weeks back that he vetoed Mourinho’s defensive transfer targets this summer.
The MEN claim Mourinho had earmarked Matic as an option at the back in case deals for the likes of Tottenham’s Toby Alderweireld did not come to fruition.

Moving a midfielder into defence when players like Bailly are available is certainly a bit damning, with the Portuguese tactician perhaps keen to show his boss what he’s been forced to do given the lack of support to strengthen his defence in the transfer market.
If United have another poor result this evening, Mourinho’s future is likely to come into question once again after growing speculation that Zinedine Zidane is gearing up for the Man Utd job.
