Barcelona are reportedly expected to come back in with a ‘vastly improved’ transfer bid for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba either in January or next summer.

The Catalan giants were linked with the France international on a number of occasions in recent weeks, but with the Premier League transfer window shutting last Thursday, any deal this August seems increasingly unlikely.

However, the saga may not be over yet as fresh reports emerge of Barcelona’s pursuit of Pogba, who has certainly struggled to hit top form at Old Trafford since his move from Juventus in 2016.

Barca will continue to monitor the 25-year-old’s relationship with manager Jose Mourinho as they play the long game in pursuing the player, with a better offer prepared for either the winter or next year after being given encouragement by his agent Mino Raiola, described by the Telegraph as a key figure driving on this potential deal.

This certainly isn’t encouraging for any United fans who want to see Pogba stay on at the club, and who would likely rather see a change of manager instead.

Mourinho hasn’t exactly been Mr Popular since he took over the Red Devils two years ago, with a lack of real success so far and some unattractive football for the most part.

MUFC supporters have come to expect better from their side and Pogba could undoubtedly be a key figure in their squad under the right manager with a more appropriate playing style.

The former Juve star could also certainly fit in well in a key role with Barcelona, who lost influential midfield playmaker Andres Iniesta this summer and who could see Pogba as an ideal long-term replacement.
