Leicester City defender Harry Maguire has finally broken his silence amid transfer rumours linking him with Manchester United this summer.
Sky Sports reported in the final few days of the transfer window that the England international wanted a move to Old Trafford and hoped a late deal could go through.

However, Maguire ended up staying put for the first half of this season at least, and has now tweeted about the year ahead with Leicester.

With this transfer saga now over, Maguire tweeted: ‘Can’t wait for the season to start tomorrow.’
The 25-year-old will actually now likely be in action for the Foxes as they take on United in their first game of the new Premier League season.
United fans will have to be left wondering what could have been as a number of other defensive targets also failed to materialise at the club this summer.
As noted by Sky Sports, Jerome Boateng was also seemingly a target of Jose Mourinho in the run-up to this season.

MUFC currently have Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Victor Lindelof as senior options in central defence, though most of those don’t truly look elite-level quality for a club of this size.
Leicester look in reasonable shape, however, after some late spending, and they’ll no doubt be delighted to have kept hold of Maguire.
And while the centre-back doesn’t mention the transfer saga involving United, this tweet could be a message to fans to assure them he’s now fully focused and happy to be at the King Power Stadium as they prepare for the start of the season.
