Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale has reportedly rejected an £87million transfer offer from Bayern Munich as he holds out for a return to the Premier League.
This is according to Diario Gol, who suggest the Wales international’s best option could be a move to Manchester United, where Jose Mourinho is said to be ready to try again to sign him this summer.
This follows on from a recent claim by Don Balon that Bale’s preferred next destination would be Old Trafford as he seems to come to the end of his time at the Bernabeu.
The 28-year-old hasn’t been at his best in Madrid, particularly in the last couple of seasons, partly due to injuries and partly due to simply seeming not to fully settle in Spain.
It therefore makes sense that Bale now seems keen to try another spell in England, having now fulfilled the dream of representing one of Europe’s biggest clubs and winning three Champions League titles.
There’s no doubt that, at his best, Bale could be a superb signing for any top Premier League club, with United perhaps still in need of a more natural wide-player in their squad.
Diario Gol also mention a possible return to Tottenham, but United seem to be his preference and would be far more likely to be able to afford both his transfer fee and wages.
The Wales international was lined up to replace Arjen Robben at Bayern, but has ruled out joining them or Chelsea, according to Diario Gol.
